Hans Buch celebrates 30 years with quality management

Aiming for high quality is not just a message, but something that is complied with at the sales and engineering company Hans Buch A/S throughout the entire value chain. That is proofed by decades of dedicated effort to achieve and maintain a certification in quality management.
Thus, the internationally recognised standard ISO 9001 has now reached a significant milestone at Hans Buch A/S, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary with quality management this month.
Impressed with the effort
Last month, Hans Buch was re-certified in ISO 9001 with a visit from Rudolf Freelance & Consulting, who on behalf of LRQA audited the company with the standards within quality management.
– I notice that Hans Buch has continuously adapted the management system, the organisation and the culture, so that it is reflected in the daily work in line with how the industry and society have developed, says Henrik Rudolf, independent consultant and auditor at Rudolf Freelance & Consulting, on behalf of LRQA.
– Three decades of maintaining ISO 9001 proves that Hans Buch has followed the development along with the standard for quality management, which has also been continuously developed and adapted since the first version, he says.
A recognised global standard in strong growth
The standard was first launched in 1987 and has been continuously updated to keep up with the trends of the time and strenghten the standard for quality management. Hans Buch has been certified in ISO 9001 since 1994 with a focus on, e.g., high customer satisfaction, product quality and traceability, detailed process management, storage and logistics, and much more.
– I have spoken to both the management and employees, and in general there is a good focus on the management systems at Hans Buch. They have a good foundation for further development as a company, says Mikkel Immergut, auditor at Rudolf Freelance & Consulting.
According to Dansk Standard, ISO 9001 is used by more than one million companies globally in more than 170 countries. It ensures a common language with uniform systems and workflows that contribute to better collaboration both internally at the individual companies and externally between companies worldwide.
A great deal of work is rewarded with common direction
Certifications according to internationally recognised standards are not achieved overnight. Therefore, there is a great deal of effort behind the maintenance of ISO 9001, which together with ISO 14001 (environmental management, ed.) is part of Hans Buch’s portfolio.
It ensures consistent work processes and strengthens collaboration, explains Lene Schæbel, HR Business Manager at Hans Buch.
– We continuously train our employees in the systems and processes prescribed by ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. It means that quality management and environmental management are a firmly rooted part of our work culture at Hans Buch, and it contributes to managing our strategy and development culture, she says.
Before long, the palette is expected to be expanded with ISO 45001, which deals with occupational health and safety management.
Achievement resonates in the wide industry
The signalling value does not come without compliance, and a cardinal point at Hans Buch’s network of stakeholders, creating reassurance that Hans Buch delivers in proper quality and at the agreed time frame.
It is an example of the fact that the culture creates the results through closer collaboration internally and interdisciplinary, says CEO at Hans Buch, Martin de Feuth Jensen.
– We are very proud to comply with the requirements for quality operations at Hans Buch. It resonates in the industry and shows our customers, suppliers and business partners that we take good quality seriously and ensure that all parts of our value chains have a satisfactory process, he says.
At the same time, the ambition of Hans Buch is to inspire suppliers and business partners to pursue the same standards.
– This is also a signal that we dare to make demands on our suppliers and business partners that we work by internationally acknowledged standards. It ensures a common direction with high-quality and on-time deliveries right from production through to turning the key in the applications we contribute to, says Martin de Feuth Jensen.
Hans Buch has existed since 1918 and provides technical solutions for the wide industry, as well as for transport and infrastructure, covering marine offshore, railway and meteorology.
