Ceilometer by Eliasson

Long-lasting cloud height meters for professional purposes
With decades of experience and a design to withstand harsh environments and weather conditions, Eliasson’s Cloud Ceilometer is a recognized quality solution worldwide. Find details about cloud height measurements and solutions for data presentation in the following sections on this page.
A thoroughly tested quality solution for cloud height measurements
Eliasson Engineering (Björn Eliasson Ingenjörsfirma AB) has been developing weather observation systems since 1969, which today focus on the compact cloud height measurement application CBME80 Cloud Ceilometer.
With many years of experience, Eliasson has built a recognized reputation for its high quality, which is documented with high MTBF (mean time between failures) from customers and location tests, as well as EMC tests (electromagnetic compatibility) and laser classification tests from recognized institutes. This provides you as the end user with a guarantee for a reliable and long-lasting solution.
A best-selling ceilometer through decades
With customers in over 30 countries and all continents, Eliasson’s application for cloud height measurements CBME80 Cloud Ceilometer has gained a foothold as a well-known and preferred meteorological solution for both military and civilian purposes for both stationary locations and for navigation support during air and sea transport. Application areas include, for example:
- Airports
- Maritime and offshore operations.
- Mobile and tactical units.
- Meteorological institutes and research environments.
- Highways.
Eliasson Cloud Ceilometer CBME80
CBME80 is a compact and lightweight application based on the LIDAR principle and designed for fixed and mobile installations where accurate and reliable information about cloud height is required. The design is based on the LIDAR principle. The light-emitting component is a low-power diode laser with output power limited to an eye-safe level.

Eliasson Cloud Presentation Suite
Cloud Presentation Suite is a software developed for Windows to provide more detailed real-time data and history about cloud heights from Eliasson’s CBME80 Cloud Ceilometer. With client/server technology, remote monitoring is enabled.
The program presents cloud bases (including penetration depth) and vertical visibility under certain conditions. The program is also recognized for its user-friendliness and simple structures, and it is certified for use by and with the Swedish defense.

Selected features
- Availability: Local access and remote access.
- User customizations: All major program settings can be customized by the user. This includes security settings, indication colors, types of cloud states to be displayed, enhancements to be made, etc.
- User levels: System administrator to configure important settings that daily users cannot adjust.
- Cloud states: Cloud state data is calculated and displayed in the programs. Cloud state indicates the amount of sky filled with clouds in different layers.
- Signal profile (backscatter data): For most telegram types, it is possible to view the signal profile (backscatter data) from a measurement. It allows for more knowledge about the current conditions than just looking at numbers or trends.
- Status report ceilometer: For each measurement, the ceilometer also indicates its status. When there is a problem with the ceilometer’s functionality, a status message will be displayed informing the user of the problem.
- Analysis options: Tools to assist in the analysis part – for example, detailed view of the latest measurements.
