Customised press solution
for manual assembly of plastic parts
A customer needed a press that could join plastic parts under pressure, be simple for operators to use and stay within a limited budget. Based on a manual toggle press from TOX® PRESSOTECHNIK, the solution was physically modified to fit directly into the customer’s setup and adaptor system.
The customer did not have the budget to invest in an automated solution. With the manual mechanical press from TOX, they received a customised solution that both suited their budget and met their requirements for operation and setup
A simple press for operator-controlled assembly
The customer needed a press that could manually press plastic parts together. The machine had to be accessible to operators and easy to use without extensive instruction.
The budget was also limited, so an automated solution was not the right approach. Instead, the task required a more affordable solution that could still meet the requirements for operation, setup and precision.
Standard press from TOX with specific modifications
The solution was based on a standard press from TOX® PRESSOTECHNIK. A manually operated toggle press was chosen, as it could meet the customer’s needs without the investment an automated solution would require.
The press was physically modified to suit the customer’s setup. Approximately 80 mm was milled off the press base, and threaded mounting holes were made to specific precision requirements. This allowed the customer to use their adaptor system and put the press solution into operation straight away.
Manual operation via a handle also made the solution simple for operators to use. As the operator activates the press themselves, the movement can be stopped immediately by releasing the handle.
A solution that matched both needs and budget
The result was a customised press solution that suited the customer’s budget while meeting the requirements for functionality, operation and setup. Rather than investing in an automated solution costing around DKK 100,000, the customer received a manual solution that met their needs at a significantly lower cost.
For tasks involving relatively few parts, manual operation can be the most sensible solution. For larger quantities, automation can often make the process easier, faster and cheaper, but in this case, manpower and a modified manual press were the right choice.
