Test your gas detector in under a minute with I-Test

A gas detector must be tested regularly to ensure that its sensors, filters and alarms work correctly. Crowcon I-Test automates bump testing and calibration of Gas-Pro and T4, so the instrument can quickly be checked and made ready for the day’s work.

A gas detector that is switched on is not necessarily ready for use

A portable gas detector is an important personal safety instrument, but it must respond correctly when a gas hazard arises. A visual check or normal start-up alone cannot confirm that the sensors respond to gas or that the instrument’s alarms work as intended.

A bump test briefly exposes the gas detector to a known concentration of test gas. Among other things, the test checks whether the sensors respond, the filters are clear, and the audible and visual alarms activate correctly.

Automatic testing without complicated operation

I-Test is a fully automatic test station for Crowcon Gas-Pro and T4. When the gas detector is placed in the station, the test starts automatically, with no need to press buttons or control the test gas manually.

A bump test takes less than a minute. I-Test uses a demand flow regulator that automatically draws the required amount of test gas. The system also detects if the gas cylinder is empty or has passed its expiry date.

In addition to bump testing, I-Test can be used for calibration. While a bump test checks that the instrument responds, calibration adjusts the sensor readings against a known gas concentration.

Establish a regular routine for testing and documentation

The measurement points should be positioned where temperature data can be actively used to control the process, The test station makes it easier to incorporate gas detector checks into the daily workflow. The instrument is placed in I-Test, after which the system carries out the selected check and records the result.

  • Check that the correct test gas is connected
  • Place Gas-Pro or T4 in the I-Test station
  • Let the test start automatically
  • Check whether the instrument has passed or failed the test
  • Remove instruments that fail from service
  • Carry out calibration when necessary
  • Save test and calibration data
  • Print certificates or reports as required
  • Follow up on employees or instruments where testing is outstanding
  • Check the test gas contents and expiry date

All bump test and calibration data can be saved and accessed through I-Test Manager. Among other things, the software can be used for reporting, certificates and an overview of which instruments have passed or still need checking.

Faster checks and better traceability

The automated process limits the risk of errors associated with manual testing and reduces the need for training. At the same time, the consolidated records provide a better basis for documenting that the gas detectors have been checked and are ready for use.

I-Test can be used with mains power or battery backup. The station is standalone and does not require a computer for daily testing. Gas detector configurations, such as bump test intervals and alarm thresholds, can also be updated through the system.

Automated testing and documentation make it easier to manage multiple gas detectors and identify instruments that have not undergone the required checks.
