Back in 2017, Hans Buch A/S solved a transport task for Dansk Kvarts Industri A/S. Now we have done it again. This time we delivered a vibration conveyor that now delivers sand for processing – dust-free, maintenance-free, and far into the future.

The Challenge

Back in 2017, Hans Buch A/S solved a transport task for Dansk Kvarts Industri A/S, where sand had to be brought from point A to point B in a closed system under tight spatial conditions – a project that was so successful that we were subsequently contacted again in connection with a new challenge at Dansk Kvarts Industri A/S.

This time they were challenged by two long belt conveyors that brought sand from a drying drum into the building and delivered it to a bucket elevator. Not only were the belt conveyors expensive to maintain and required daily cleaning around the conveyor belt, but they were also so old and worn that they caused breakdowns and thus production stops.

Dansk Kvarts Industri A/S therefore needed a new and future-proof solution. A solution that could replace the two belt conveyors and ease the work of producing sand for the market. In developing the solution, Dansk Kvarts Industri had one request. They wanted a solution that could transport hot and abrasive materials with as few transitions as possible. A quite clear request, but nonetheless unique and complex. A solution like the one Dansk Kvarts Industri A/S wanted would indeed be longer than the longest troughs of 8 meters, which have otherwise been delivered and recommended in Denmark so far.

The Solution

Claus from Hans Buch A/S took up the challenge, and together with the independent engineer, Christian Sinding, and our supplier Kami, we developed and delivered Denmark’s longest free-swinging vibration conveyor at 12 meters.

The choice fell on a vibration conveyor because they can transport materials in a closed system without spillage and with minimal maintenance. Even hot and abrasive materials.

With such a complex solution as this, it was not enough just to deliver a regular vibration conveyor. To enable a construction like the one DKI wanted, we had to go completely new ways. The solution was to think along the same lines as aircraft designers and create a solution with as little weight as possible placed in the right places.

To allow the sand to enter the building and into the bucket elevator, we developed another vibration conveyor of 7 meters. We placed this at a 90-degree angle under the 12-meter-long vibration conveyor. Here too, we encountered a number of challenges, as we had to take into account the existing machines and their placement. However, the challenges should not stop us, and with a little extra ingenuity, the solution was developed and delivered as agreed.

“Dansk Kvarts is very satisfied with the course of the case and with the functionality of the live troughs.”

Jørgen Lund, Production Manager, Dansk Kvarts Industri A/S

The Result

Together with Christian Sinding and our supplier, Hans Buch A/S delivered yet another successful transport solution to Dansk Kvarts Industri A/S. The solution now delivers 60 tons of material per hour for further processing – dust-free, maintenance-free, and far into the future. All to DKI’s great satisfaction.

“Another successful project, where the collaboration was impeccable and the delivery went exactly as it should. The solution works perfectly and meets all the customer’s requirements.”
